Arabic is not merely a language subject at Ithraa School — it is the vessel of divine revelation, the tongue of Islamic scholarship, and a living cultural heritage. The Arabic Language program is designed to produce students who are functionally fluent in Modern Standard Arabic (Fusha), capable of engaging classical Islamic texts, and appreciative of Arabic literary tradition.

The program develops all four language skills in an integrated manner across all grade levels:

• Listening (Al-Istima'): Comprehending spoken Arabic in instructional, conversational, and media contexts
• Speaking (Al-Kalam): Expressing ideas accurately and fluently in formal and informal Arabic registers
• Reading (Al-Qira'ah): Decoding, comprehending, and critically analyzing Arabic texts from modern and classical sources
• Writing (Al-Kitabah): Producing grammatically accurate, stylistically appropriate Arabic compositions across a range of genres

Arabic grammar (Nahw) and morphology (Sarf) are taught as structured disciplines that give students analytical tools for understanding the language at a deep level. At primary level, students learn sentence structure through games and visual grammar maps. At secondary level, students engage classical Nahw texts including the Ajrumiyyah and elements of Alfiyya Ibn Malik, developing the grammatical fluency needed for independent engagement with Islamic sources.

The Arabic Language and Quran departments coordinate closely so that the vocabulary, grammar, and rhetorical devices encountered in Quran lessons are reinforced and extended in Arabic classes. Students who memorize a Surah containing a particular grammatical structure will study that structure formally in their Arabic grammar lesson the same week. This synchronization accelerates acquisition and deepens comprehension on both sides.
