Islamische Studien

Islamic Studies at Ithraa School is a holistic subject that encompasses five foundational branches: Aqeedah (theology and creed), Fiqh (jurisprudence and practice), Seerah (biography of the Prophet), Hadith (prophetic traditions), and Akhlaq (ethics and character). Together, these branches equip students not merely with religious knowledge, but with a complete Islamic worldview and a refined personal character.

The study of Aqeedah grounds students in the foundational beliefs of Islam: Tawheed (the oneness of Allah), the articles of faith (Arkan al-Iman), and the correct understanding of Allah's names and attributes. The curriculum progresses from simple declarative knowledge in early grades to a sophisticated engagement with classical texts such as the Aqeedah al-Wasitiyya of Ibn Taymiyyah in upper secondary. Students learn to articulate their faith clearly and respond confidently to contemporary misconceptions.

Fiqh classes focus on practical religious literacy: purification (Taharah), prayer (Salah), fasting (Sawm), Zakat, and Hajj at the foundational level, expanding to transactions (Mu'amalat), family law basics, and Islamic ethics in commerce and social interaction at upper levels. The school follows the four established Madhabs comparatively, teaching students to understand scholarly differences with wisdom and humility.

The Seerah program is one of the most beloved subjects at Ithraa School. Taught as a living narrative rather than dry historical data, Seerah lessons bring the life of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) to life through storytelling, dramatic reconstructions, timeline projects, and thematic analysis. Students draw leadership lessons from the Battle of Badr, communication lessons from the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah, and resilience lessons from the years of persecution in Makkah.

Students memorize and study carefully selected Hadith collections appropriate to each stage, including the Forty Hadith of Imam An-Nawawi. Beyond memorization, students learn the science of Hadith classification (Mustalah al-Hadith) at upper levels, developing critical appreciation for the preservation of prophetic knowledge across centuries.

Character education runs as a thread through every Islamic Studies lesson and, indeed, through the entire school culture. Ithraa School implements a structured Akhlaq program that addresses honesty, respect, gratitude, patience, generosity, and responsibility — each virtue tied directly to Quranic verses and Prophetic examples. The Character Education Portfolio tracks student growth in these domains alongside academic assessments.
